I’m going to trial a new way of delivering these newsletters. At the moment it takes me some considerable time to load them on to the delivery server, then I load them again onto my website.
I want to streamline this, so I don’t double up. So from next week onwards, I’m going to post it just it the once, to my blog. Then I’ll email you the link. It means that all the past issues, from next week onwards, will be available. Currently I delete old ones in my archive, to keep the page vaguely manageable.
All you have to do is to click on the link in the email and it will redirect you immediately. I hope this works well for you.

Dietary Potassium
Potassium is essential to life. It’s one of the macro minerals. It’s present in every cell of the body, but especially the nerve and bone cells. A deficiency of potassium can wreak havoc on your body and your health.
There are several illnesses that can result from a deficiency. One of them is blood pressure. If this is high, there may be a number of causes, but always consider potassium first, as it is at very low levels in a typical Western diet
Other illnesses associated with low potassium are congestive heart failure, cholesterol and irregular pulse.
Drugs can deplete your levels of potassium. Drugs such as diuretics, cortisone, high blood pressure medications (these are diuretics), and the birth control pill. Nearly all medications and drugs will upset the potassium balance.
Heavy sweating can cause potassium loss, too.
Sodium and potassium are co-dependent on each other. Whenever you have a potassium loss, the sodium levels become unnaturally high. And if you have a high sodium intake, the potassium is not in balance with it.
Good food sources of potassium are whole and unprocessed foods such as fruit and vegetables. Especially high in potassium are apricots, cantaloupe melons, citrus fruit, bananas, figs, dates, raisins, avocados, kidney beans, spinach, corn, cabbage and broccoli.
Potassium is a natural diuretic, helping your body excrete water and sodium, thus keeping blood pressure to an optimum level.
If you take a synthetic supplement of potassium, or any other isolated mineral, you will be putting your system out of balance. Especially the sodium/potassium balance.
Blue green algae is high in potassium, as it is in all the macro and trace minerals. The great thing about this supplement is that it comes from a whole food, and a super food. Nothing is added, nothing is taken away. The algae is simply dried.
Taking a whole food supplement, means you will be keeping nutrients in a balanced form.

Thought of the Week
Life is life - whether in a cat, or dog or man. There is no difference there between a cat or a man. The idea of difference is a human conception for man's own advantage.

Homoeopathic Potassium
Potassium is available in homeopathic form. The name of it is Kali - a Latin word. There are many salts of potassium and they are all available in homeopathic medicine. The most common one is Kali phosphoricum, Kali phos for short.
Kali phos is particularly good at restoring your energy after you have been doing something draining, such as during childbirth, an exhausting day’s work or studying for exams. You feel unable to cope, to continue. You dread having to go on.
Your body feels depleted. Those in need of this medicine are sensitive, nervous, weak and very easily tired. You can see that this state could easily move you into a state of depression.
Neurasthenia is a word which describes those in need of this medicine very well. It’s an old fashioned word which describes a disorder which may include some or all of the following conditions - fatigue, depression, inability to concentrate, loss of appetite, insomnia, nervous prostration. There are many nervous symptoms too, including restlessness, neuralgia, paralysis.
I hope you can see the connection to being depleted in the dietary mineral and the homeopathic medicine.
Taking this medicine will do you far more good than taking an isolated and synthetic mineral that is so often prescribed by various health professionals.
It is commonly available as a tissue salt, but higher potency are also available.

There is no difference in the need of animals for this vital mineral, to the human needs. Except that animals who are fed a commercial pet food will, without any doubt, be badly depleted of this mineral. Commercial pet food is nutrient poor. There is no quality about it. Animals fed commercial pet food will have more than a potassium deficiency.
